PSYCHOLOGISTS

A psychologist is a person who has completed a degree in the study of the nature, functions and phenomena of the human mind. Psychologists are employed in both private and public sectors. They generally offer a range of treatment programs using specific or integrated therapies. The current medical view is that Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is particularly effective in the treatment of anxiety disorders. It is recommended that client’s are fully aware of fees and rebates before commencing a therapy program. Health funds generally offer a rebate for Clinical Psychologists. Referral is generally by way of a health professional. Most Psychologists treat Anxiety Disorders.
